Big G
Mr. L.B. is known as "Big G" to his expanding family, which includes three daughters, numerous grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren. Growing up on a 90-acre farm in rural Virginia during the Great Depression, Mr. L.B. worked the fields alongside his mother and four sisters until economic hardships forced his family to return to North Carolina. After graduating high school in 1940, Mr. L.B. married his high school sweetheart, Ruth. They were together for 60 years of marriage until her passing. His career started in the Newport News shipyard during WWII before he settled in Richmond as a steel company foreman for 35 years. Mr. L.B. then spent another 15 years working in hospital maintenance, officially retiring at age 80. These days he embraces modern technology with his own iPad and Facebook account while serving as the cherished anchor of a multi-generational legacy.
