I Keep Me Going
104-year-old Ms. T. was born in the Dominican Republic, where she met her husband at age 21. He was a native of Antigua who learned Spanish to court her, and taught her English in return. After her husband’s tragic passing in 1980 when he fell from his horse, Ms. T. settled permanently in Virginia in 1982, where she has lived for the past 42 years. These days she enjoys Word Search puzzles, playing bingo at senior centers, and avoiding unnecessary worry. For Ms. T., "home" is defined as where she lives now, kept comfortable and well-cared for by her loving children.
